Questions I'm asked

Q. Don't greyhounds need a lot of exercise?

A. Greyhounds are increadibly lazy animals and will only need 2 twenty minite walks a day. The greyhound is bred to sprint only short distances.

Q. Why do they wear muzzles?

A. This is Probably because my gang wear them whilst out walking as I know that my dogs are not good with other breeds and wear them for safety not because greyhounds are dangerous dogs.

Q. Why do they need coats?

A. Greyhounds do not carry much body fat and can become cold very quickly, when walking your greyhound in winter they need to be wrapped up warm, after all we wouldn't go out in winter without a coat.

Q. Do greyhounds make good guard dogs?

A. simply no greyhounds rarely bark once in a home.

Q. Do greyhounds sit?

A. Because of the greyhounds skeletal structure they find it uncomfortable to sit, some do but for very short periods of time.

Q. How long do greyhounds live?

A. The avarage age of the greyhounds is 12 - 14 years of age.

Q. Are greyhounds good with children?

A. In all my years around greyhounds I have never known a greyhounds to attack a human. Although like all dogs they need to have their own space and should always be left alone whilst sleeping.

Q. How big are greyhouds?

A. A greyhound normally weigh between 25 - 38 kgs. Females are generally smaller.

Q. How well do greyhounds travel?

A. Because greyhounds are used to traveling throughout their racing career, the majority of them are excellent in a car.

Q. Do greyhounds get along with cats?

A. Some greyhounds do manage to live with cats, but like other breeds some will chase cats, but remember a greyhound can run faster than other breeds.

Q. Will my greyhound be alright when I am at work?

A. No dog should be left all day, although greyhounds sleep for long periods at a time they do need to be let out to relieve  themselves.
